UUC Adult Learning Program

Dear Friends,

Welcome to the UUC Adult Learning Program for 2008-2009! Continuing education is a wonderful way to make connections with people of like interests, as well as to learn. The Unitarian Universalists of Clearwater nurture spiritual and intellectual growth through a variety of events and activities, providing a forum for seekers who wish to grow in a caring, spiritual, Unitarian Universalist community.

Classes, led by our ministers and by experienced laity, are open to members and friends of the congregation, and to the wider community. Register on-line by clicking on the 'Register Here' link next to each class description, or by phoning the church office at (727) 531-7704.

If you need childcare, please let me know ahead of time. If the cost of a course is a problem, contact me. Also contact me, or Rev. Abhi Janamanchi, or any member of the Adult Education Committee if you have ideas for future classes.

Warm blessings,

Millie

OCTOBER

UUC Leadership Program - Expressing Your Real and Genuine Leadership Self

Leadership.jpg Enhance Your Leadership at Work, at Home,
in the UUC and in all of Your Communities.

What Will I Get From This?

Knowing yourself as a leader; Appreciating your unique style; Understanding how to work with volunteers (including a look at our new Community Builders database); Learning how people work in groups; Dealing with conflict; Embracing the differences between people and opinions; and Exploring Leadership in the context of the UUC.

Who should attend?

Individuals interested in enhancing their leadership anywhere (at work, at home, or here at the UUC); New members; Individuals who have participated in previous UUC leadership programs; People who sit on committees or the Board of Trustees; Covenant Group facilitators; or any member of the UUC who just wants to be more effective at what they do, especially in working with groups!

What previous participants have said:

"I found the material gave me a different view point for success working in a committee environment and how to harness motivation of volunteers. Some real insights into how our built in thinking can interfere with what we are trying to accomplish. A good course and I highly recommend it for others." Bill Snell

"Leadership requires courage, patience and caring. I learned how to be together with others to accomplish a worthy goal; how to be aware of the things that cause me frustration and sometimes discouragement and how to keep my own right opinion open for review. I learned how to keep aware of being a good listener and practice makes perfect. I found great companions in this effort and memorable moments of truth." Sheila M. Knaust

"The listening exercises were a good reminder of training I had many years ago when I was a volunteer in a women's center and on the board of a battered women's shelter. I appreciated that very much and am beginning to use better listening techniques again. Thank you very much for the training. All of you were excellent!" Ches Applewhite
