The Advantage of Membership

Many people claim to be Unitarian Universalist because they agree with what they have heard is our philosophy, but they never bother to actually attend a UU church, leave alone join and pledge. Dorothy thinks we should tell them what the advantages are to being a member.

Dorothy has been one of our most active members since she joined UUC in 1976. She has served on and chaired many committees, co-edited the Octagram, facilitated Open Issues, been a Board member and President. She also was State President of Common Cause and a member of the national Common Cause board. And she recently celebrated her 95th birthday and heartily recommends it!

Allison Snell will deliver this month's Social Justice Report. The purpose of the Social Justice Report is to inform the congregation and the public about social justice concerns.

This month the Split the Plate recipient will be Women On the Way based at St. Pete College Clearwater campus. Women on the Way is a resource and support center primarily for students entering or re-entering college after a period of absence. Many women are single parents. In addition to meeting some basic needs for members, it offers opportunities for leadership, fellowship and community service. Women on the Way provides services that enhance and empower adult learners’ abilities to achieve academic, professional and personal success. The program provides resources and support for SPC students seeking to complete a college degree. Please donate to this wonderful program.
